100 Favorite Films: Ferris Bueller's Day Off to Funeral Parade of Roses

Picking my 100 favorite films was hard enough.  Ranking them?  Impossible.

Therefore I'll be presenting them in alphabetical order.  Also, very important to note...quoting the amazing Priscilla Page -

"...first and foremost, I never intend for this list to be an objective, declarative statement on film... I just want to share what I loved, what moved me, what helped me, what was fun to watch — in short, the movies I want other people to get their eyeballs on if they haven’t already."

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

I can't count how many times I've seen this movie. It never gets old.

A Fish Called Wanda (1988)

There are people who don't think this film is funny. I don't want to know those people. Kevin Kline won an Oscar for his performance as the idiot American (RARE for a comedic performance to get any attention from Oscar). Lot of Monty Python alums involved so you do need to appreciate dry British humor, but if you're on board with that sensibility I think you'll have a hoot. Otto: "I love watching your ass when you walk. Is that beautiful or what? Don't go near him, he's mine!"

The French Connection (1971)

Gene Hackman again. The older I get, the more I appreciate this guys work. And yes, this film's car chase is still one of the greatest ever filmed.

Full Metal Jacket (1987)

Stanley Kubrick.  Vincent D'Onofrio.

Funeral Parade of Roses (1969)

The film is amazing! It's nearly impossible to categorize. Campy "gay" film? Sure. Horror/Thriller? Kind of. Pseudo-documentary on gay culture in 1969 Tokyo? Yep. Another example of an experimental film maker (Toshio Matsumoto) trying their hand at a commercial film.
