100 Favorite Films - Legally Blonde to Midnight Run

Picking my 100 favorite films was hard enough.  Ranking them?  Impossible.

Therefore I'll be presenting them in alphabetical order.  Also, very important to note...quoting the amazing Priscilla Page -

"...first and foremost, I never intend for this list to be an objective, declarative statement on film... I just want to share what I loved, what moved me, what helped me, what was fun to watch — in short, the movies I want other people to get their eyeballs on if they haven’t already."

Legally Blonde (2001)

It really is charming.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

Particularly the extended edition.  The world building in this film is simply on another level.

The Manchurian Candidate (1962)

A stunning film. Angela Lansbury stands out. This is one film that may make you re-think your preconceived notions of "old" and/or "black and white" films. Another stellar Criterion Collection blu-ray release.

Midnight Cowboy (1969)

This film blew me away.  There is simply so much going on in this film I could write several pages (and did for a film course I took!). Suffice it to say this is one of those "must see" films.  It's one of those films that really hits you.  After it's over you know you've just experienced something.  Something that will stay with you for awhile - if not forever.  If for no other reason, see it for the incredible performance by Dustin Hoffman.  The Criterion Collection blu-ray really should be on your shelf.

Midnight Run (1988)

Is a six-star review possible? One of my all-time favorite films.  It's essentially perfect. Robert De Niro dips his toe into comedy for the first time and NAILS it.  Charles Grodin, one of the world's funniest men in one of his very best performances.  The two play off each other perfectly. The supporting cast is to die for - Yaphet Kotto, John Ashton, Joe Pantoliano, Dennis Fucking Farnia! The script is tight, fast, funny as hell, has a heart and is full of terrific memorable lines. Seriously, action-comedies don't get better than this. Just buy the blu-ray.  You can thank me later.
